Shasta Marine Survey is my small company with a big goal- to make your next houseboat or boat purchase as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. MARINE SURVEYS are an indispensable tool to help you decide if you have found the right boat and avoid mistakes. Here is my background:
Graduated from the Pac 10 (now Pac 12) in 1984 with two job offers- to go to work on Wall Street or to crew on a 96-footer in the Mediterranean. Guess which way I went? Since sailing the jetset ports of France, Italy, and Greece my resume includes:
-Obtained first USCG Mariner's License in 1988, began a 6-pak kayak tour company in Ventura, California serving Channel Islands National Park.
-Began running yachts to Mexico for the winter season, starting with a Fleming 50 trawler and working up to 90-footers.
-Worked as a columnist for the San Diego Log and in 1993 published my first Mexico cruising guide- The Baja Bash.
-Became managing partner for a Cabo San Lucas marine hardware and repair business and started surveying yachts in Taiwan and Mexico.
-Consultant for Marina Costa Baja in La Paz, Mexico and then hired as design consultant and operations manager at Marina Puerto Los Cabos.
-After 18 years running yachts and businesses in Mexico returned to Northern California in 2013 to work as a Certified Marine Surveyor and buyers agent.
-Wrote second book (Bluewater Sailing) published by International Marine/McGraw Hill in 2015, still based on the West Coast and loving life!
